Movie Theme Song
If there is ever a movie made about me, I want the theme song to be “Hometown Glory” by Adele. This has been one of my favorite songs for a while and every time I hear it, I just want to continue to listen to it on repeat over and over again. I can’t decide why there would ever be a movie made about me, but it’s cool to imagine. A few reasons I can think of for why a movie might be made about me:
I save the world in some epic way (i.e. me jumping in front of a subway to save a child who fell on the tracks)
Someone finds my love life intriguing and wants to make a “notebook”-like movie about it (doubtful)
I turn into some incredible artist and someone wants to make an indy film about me
Realistically, none of the above will ever happen but it’s fun to pretend. My favorite verse is:
I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque
I love to see everybody in short skirts, shorts and shades
I like it in the city when two worlds collide
I imagine myself walking briskly down the streets of new york city during this part of the movie.
One can dream right?
As a holiday treat before Christmas my boss took us out to lunch at a place called The Smith. I’m not up on the cool or fancy restaurants in the city but everyone seemed to have known this place. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. One co-worker ordered their tomato soup with her meal and I have been craving it ever since. My two favorite soups are french onion (because of the cheese obviously) and tomato soup (which I usually add some sort of cheese to). So, naturally when the waiter brought my colleague a bowl of what appeared to be french onion tomato soup, I was jealous. My two favorite parts, the cheese from the french onion and the tomato! Yesterday at work, a friend and I started reminiscing about the delicious soup and decided we should make the walk to test it out. It was well work the 8 block walk to have their delicious soup, big beer and a side of what we thought were truffle fries but apparently were not.
Last night I went to see the play “Once” and it was the most incredible show I have ever seen. It is based on the 2006 independent film “Once” that won some Sundance Film Festival awards. Currently it is in it’s last week of production while off-broadway but it will be on broadway starting in March, and I can’t wait to see it again. I enjoy broadway plays but I can’t say that I love them. This one was different. I didn’t want it to end, and neither did anyone in the audience. It was the perfect combination of romance, awesome music and comedy. Imagine a cast of 10 people who combine to make a band greater than Zach Brown Band & Matt Nathanson & Damien Rice all combined. The charm of the little theater that it was in also added to my love of the evening. There was one set with a bar in the center of the stage. This bar served as the concession stand before the show and during intermission. During both breaks, the cast played their violins and guitars around those on the stage grabbing drinks. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. To my surprise, I found out after I saw the show that the movie was based on a true story.
While there isn’t a broadway soundtrack just yet, I did download some of the songs that were performed from the movie soundtrack (I will definitely be watching the movie this weekend). The broadway show songs were better but this will give you a taste of what kind of music to expect:
Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard
Leave by Glen Hansard
